Punta Tombo, Dos Pozos

Wildlife lovers go wild for Punta Tombo, a nature reserve sheltering the largest colony of Magellan penguins outside of Antarctica. Penguins come to the area from September to April to nest and look after their young, which are born in November. The rocky strip juts into the Atlantic Ocean, extending for roughly 3 km (1.86 mi). Visitors are free to enter the area and get close to the penguins, but must not touch or bother the creatures in any way. Bird enthusiasts also enjoy sightings of cormorants, oystercatchers, and kelp gulls. Just a couple hours' drive from Puerto Madryn, the park makes a worthwhile day trip.
