Punta Tombo National Reserve, Dique Florentino Ameghino
(4.8/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
Wildlife lovers go wild for Punta Tombo National Reserve, a nature reserve sheltering the largest colony of Magellan penguins outside of Antarctica. Penguins come to the area from September to April to nest and look after their young, which are born in November. The rocky strip juts into the Atlantic Ocean, extending for roughly 3 km (1.86 mi). Visitors are free to enter the area and get close to the penguins, but must not touch or bother the creatures in any way. Bird enthusiasts also enjoy sightings of cormorants, oystercatchers, and kelp gulls. Just a couple hours' drive from Puerto Madryn, the park makes a worthwhile day trip. • We went with the Fugutours Agency of 28th street on 3 July that makes you a 15% discount if you have serviclub. Ask. It is an all day excursion that passes Trelew and Gaiman. It's really worth seeing the penguins in their nests with their chicks, and see them walking everywhere waiting that you give them the step. They are a spectacle. Many agencies make this excursion. What not I liked (and not is fault of them agencies) is that to the access to the area, the Government of Chubut you copper $180 by person only by pass a toll (supposedly by be area protected) and even offer a sector of baths public. A shame!

  • Is WONDERFUL! You can not believe how wonderful that is this place. The infrastructure is impeccable and the entire reservation is worthy of being. See the penguins behave in nature and with total freedom is muuuyyyyy cute. Even by date, we were able to hatchlings in the nest and it was beautiful. Struck me a lot.

  • Incredible place to appreciate as the penguins come to our shores to nest and having its offspring. As they are faithful, some even up to return to their own nest. If they are in season, the number of penguins who see is impressive, and even walking next to you (always and when there are no people who touch the espante queriendolos). It is a beautiful, to walk enough and go quiet, enjoying scenery place, but above all CUIDANDOLO!
