  • Has already been proven that the main wealth of the Patagonian steppe is buried well below your arid surface. Oil exploration is growing at an accelerated rate and the paleontological heritage surprised the scientific world with unpublished specimens among other treasures. One of the largest and most respected exponents of this scenario is the Museo Carmen Funes in Plaza Huincul, constantly surprising the world with the research and dissemination of important paleontological findings from your Foundation in 1984. The opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 19:00, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:30 to 20:30. The entrance fee is super cheap, air $10.00 per person (R $2.00) and under 10 years old. -Data obtained in 09/2017 – check timetables and values close to the date of your trip – The most important stars of the complex are Huinculensis Argentinosaurus and Giganotosaurus Carolinii, two of the largest dinosaurs discovered in the world so far. Argentinosaurus is a herbivore that specimen was found about 8 Km away from the Museum, because it is in the municipality of Plaza Huincul earned him the surname of "Huinculensis". With about of 35 meters long and 100 tons of weight, the footprints of this giant saurópodo had more than one meter in diameter in the front legs and a meter and a half in the hind legs. The Giganotosaurus on display was a large Carnivore like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, but much bigger. This specimen on display measured about 12.5 metres and it is estimated that lived more than 100 million years. Besides the scientific patrimony the Museo Carmen Funes also has an area of archaeology, anthropology and history. Here we look at other specimens found in Neuquén as fossil plants, a replica of Caypullisaurus Bonapartei, which is the most complete Ichthyosaur from South America, prints and drawings of paleontological samples originating in Northern Patagonia. Most of the items exposed are perfect replicas of the originals that are usually being studied in Argentina and other countries. Many fossils are real and serve as a comparison for the visitors. Being in the province of Neuquén is essential a visit to the Museo Carmen Funes. Let's quote the main reasons: you will not need to move the "rutas" key, the tour will take less than 50 minutes, and be on the skeleton of the largest dinosaur in the world is a unique experience in the life of any human being.

  • Excellent place, it is worth visiting it more than once. There are replicas of dinosaur skeletons and there are also fossilized remains. In addition to a part of the Museum that has to do with the oil industry, another party has something about the mapuche community. And many things more, the entry is super accessible, $15. I recommend you go to diafrutalo and learn

  • Very nice Museum. If you're last voucher worth down and pass. Among many things, it has a replica in real size and the original the world's largest dinosaur bones. If the Paleontology is not yours, also has a historical section where they have a little did the people
