Art Museum
Stroll past masterpieces from the 16th to 20th centuries with a visit to Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes. Housed in an elegant and classical building from 1929, the museum of fine art was begun in 1840. Ten different busts of the distinguished Tenerife nobility line the exterior of the museum. In more than 14 exhibition rooms you'll find Flemish paintings of the likes of Pieter Coecke van Aelst, José de Rivera, and Pieter Bruegel (the Elder). After you've seen it all, retreat to the on-site cafe for tea, breads, raw truffles, and artisan beer as you reflect on the art you've just witnessed. • We went when it was very quiet in the museum. The artwork is varied and enough to hold your attention, but we found it hard as all information was in Spanish. Nice tea room!  more »
