Iglesia Catedral de Córdoba, Cordoba

Right next to the city's main plaza, Iglesia Catedral de Córdoba features a mish-mash of architectural styles owing to its long construction process. Begun in the 16th century, the cathedral did not see completion until nearly two centuries later, and displays Romanesque, Baroque, and Neoclassical features, among others. Visit the iconic building and admire its stately exterior, complete with arched entryways and two squat bell towers. Head inside and you'll find its vaulted interior decorated with large amounts of golden accents and a range of intricate religious artwork, painted by local son Emilio Caraffa. • It lies within the historic area. It is considered the fourth wonder of Córdoba. On 6 July the year 1573, the Spanish Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera at the time of the founding of the city of Córdoba assigned the land for the building of the so-called minor Church, where stood a modest Chapel of adobe with roof Gable. Beautiful example of the colonzacion Spanish in Córdoba. Its construction was initiated in 1582 by the name - that it still bears - Church of our Lady of the assumption, in 1706 the Cathedral was officially consecrated. During the first two centuries of the building they worked in the work many aborigines from the Jesuit estancias, several of these aborigines were extraordinary artisans and left their mark on many of the Baroque details of this Cathedral. The total set of argentina Cordoba Cathedral is an excellent synthesis of elements with Renaissance origins coupled with those of the Baroque colonial Spanish, neo-classicism and even Mudejar details.
