Palacio San Jose, Concepcion del Uruguay

4.7
#1 of 85 in Museums in Litoral
Once the home of Justo Jose de Urquiza, Palacio San Jose immortalizes the former president of the Argentine Confederation. Opt for a guided tour of the residence to gain a fuller understanding of who the general and politician was and his significance for Argentina. By viewing the rooms of his former home, you’ll learn about Urquiza’s assassination, which took place in this home in 1870. Built with both Italian and Argentine architectural styles, the building has been kept well preserved. Explore the house’s 38 rooms, including an archive, playroom, library, dining room, chapel and kitchens, and notice the bloody handprint Urquiza left on a door as he was murdered. To go alone, as a couple, with family, with friends. There is a guided tour of the Palace, you have a beautiful place to eat and drink mate in the shade. Photographers are rejoicing in this place. Try not to go in the summer, I would recommend it for September, October (check with rainy season). I was Jan January 2014: very hot.

The Palacio San José is perhaps the only construction in Argentina, built as an attempt to copy the European palaces. Mixture of styles (Italian, French and colonial), was built by the General Urquiza, President of the Argentina in 1854, and in which lived for 20 years, until 1870, date in which is killed in one of the rooms of the Palace. It is amazing the building in the middle of the plain, with its extensive gardens and large artificial lake. It had advances to the era such as running water, which had neither the same Buenos Aires. It saves many objects from the era with great testimonial value. It has barely been refurbished (and also little maintained, unfortunately). The good news is that, today, not only is not it paid entry, if that is not possible to stay the time you want in the vast park which gives to the vicinity of the Lake. If they walk close to conception of the Uruguay, don't forget to visit him. Tip: If you come from the North, pay attention, since - unlike the road that comes from Buenos Aires, which has several posters indicators - there is the road that goes to the South no signpost.

Shocking instructed building to be built by Urquiza, loaded with history, of fine elements that make the Palace. A European, but rustic, Palace, adapted to our fields, and the people of the area. Very interesting story that surrounds it, the illustrious visitors, like branch, and the subject of the first building in Argentina with running water, rather than in Buenos Aires.

The place of is impressive, but the guided tour that made two guides on first person, posing as the daughters of Urquiza, dressed in time and engaging visitors in history, transform it into an unforgettable experience. My congratulations and sincere gratitude.
