Cascada del Rio Agrio, Caviahue

4.9
#1 of 7 in Things to do in Caviahue
At Cascada del Rio Agrio, water plummets down into a crater colored green, red, and orange by mineral-rich rocks and the moss growing on them. The biggest of four waterfalls along the Rio Agrio's path, the cascade is easily accessible from nearby Caviahue, either on foot or by car. Admire the symmetry of the waterfall and the nearly circular crater. Don't forget your camera--you'll want the perfect photo of this natural, multicolored sensation. The waterfall is very cute. Unfortunately we were last summer and there was so much flow. Next summer will surely be great to visit for the good snowfall in this winter. Not to be missed.

The Agrio River has headwaters in the Caviahue Lake, at the foot of the volcano Copahue. In the heart of the Andes, in the province of Neuquén. This Lake is so acid that there is life in it, due to sulphur which emits the volcano and that disperses through its waters. Agrio River is born there. And that is why its name: sour. Test the waters! Copahue possesses a unique thermal water Centre. Special treatments and for enjoyment. There are fumaroles around the landscape! Did you know that a few meters of Copahue existed a generating plant of small electricity, which used steam from the volcano? Caviahue has a center of skiing on the slopes of the Copahue, which is worth visiting even in summer. The jump of the tart is downstream, a few kilometres from Caviahue. It is a natural cooker which makes you jump into the River a drop important, then continue their course. All of this located in the Patagonian steppe. Safety pin! I recommend it to you. Combination of steppe of Patagonia, the Andes mountains, rivers, mountains and beautiful lakes. Did you know that there is a natural forest of Araucaria Caviahue? A tree so old it's a living fossil. Cretaceous-era! The quality is very good, the cuisine is perfect. Regional dishes. Trout, deer and wild boar. To know him!
