Lago Epecuen, Carhue

(4.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Travel to the famous healing lagoon and see the deserted town claimed by its waters at Lago Epecuen. Long believed to have healing properties, the waters of the lagoon have been used in treatments since the early 19th century because of the mineral content of the water and its high salinity. In 1985, heavy rains caused the lagoon to swell, and water swallowed this small spa town. For 25 years the town was under water, but now that the water has receded you can see the eerie landscape. Using our custom trip planner, Carhue attractions like Lago Epecuen can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • It is a landscape that is picturesque only by the flamingos that inhabit the place, otherwise it is very distressing to see the amount of trees dry they were as vestiges of the progress of the water pays off over the village of Epecuén. The waters are known by be them more salty of the planet, the sea dead you still in second place, and have great amount of minerals, but not allow it life, not there are fish in the Lake.

  • The waters of the Lake say they have healing properties, the water is so salty as the water of the dead sea which makes that you can float easily. The water is transparent and there are places where not is allows that is enter to the Lake since is the village submerged and can be dangerous. All the lake itself has a ghostly aspect that makes it very attractive.
