Complejo El Zapato, Capilla del Monte

#6 of 8 in Things to do in Capilla del Monte
Legend has it that hundreds of years ago, on every thirteenth moon, Indian chiefs, shamans, and healers would gather under Complejo El Zapato, which was shaped by wind and erosion in the recognizable form of a shoe. "The Shoe" clearly stands out among other granite rocks in this rugged and imposing mountain terrain. Look for a cave and a fountain next to the stone steps at the foot of the rock. Climb to the top of the rock for scenic views of the surroundings, including the Dolores River and the dam. A giant slide and a zipline will attract adventurous souls, while the rest can chill and grab a bite at a restaurant. For a memento to bring home, visit the crafts fair. Put Complejo El Zapato into our Capilla del Monte online driving holiday planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • The complex needed improving baths, and at least have a kiosk if the bar is not working... It is reached or walking which is 6 blocks from the route, pure Sun without shadows or in auto would be best. Then deeper down the same road there is a small campsite which is called El Paraíso. Very cute but what is missing is that they planting more trees, there is little shade.

  • The venue is neglected. The journey is extremely simple, and although the view is nice, adds nothing original. The most attractive: empanadas front local and other business.

  • It's a beautiful area to see the whole valley, but the "zapato" itself is kind of a joke and not that interesting. They clued the rock on top of the base. Originally it was one piece, but now it just looks fake because of the cement. Aside from the shoe, go here to see the nice view of the mountains and the awesome lake. Good place to go to and very close to Capilla del Monte.
  • Very nice place to visit
  • We went to try the kayak and we loved it. Very quiet. We pay the entry to the nautical club, $30 per person, can be done roast and spend the day. Excellent attention of personnel.

  • From the route the road is land, but once there you park a $20 and free access. There are stairs. Very nice landscape.

  • Interesting. Go up on foot to arrive. I do not recommend it for very elderly people.

Where to stay in Capilla del Monte

The primary area to look for accommodations in Capilla del Monte lies in the north of town. Hotels boasting mountain views and additional amenities, such as pools, spas, and bars, sit on the grander streets. Simple, welcoming posadas (guesthouses) provide good options for more budget-conscious travelers.
