Cascadas del rio colorado, Cafayate

4.4
Hike along the Colorado River to Cascadas del rio colorado, an 8 m (26 ft) waterfall suspended between two boulders. The hike takes some climbing, mostly along the riverbed. Along the way, you can see smaller waterfalls, ponds, and hills. Enjoy the scenic views, have a picnic, or take a dip in the waterfall. Bring suitable footwear and prepare for a challenging trek, as some parts are quite steep and riddled with rocks. • We did the hike without a guide in December, superb! The great debate: with or without guide?! We arrive by car, we're trying to stop a first time by the roadside for a guide service (3 km from the car park a) then a second time to 2 km, by guys with their motorcycles. Then arrived at the parking lot, a guide is we not offering his services but we are almost required. It sticks to our car by telling us to not take much in our bag, by checking if you have good shoes. He told so that no we have need of nobody. Then he goes we start the ride by the way (not Panel, 0 indication, we're going to make more sense). A guy sitting on his Chair then asks us to fill a notebook with last name, first name etc (in case we come back alive I guess!) and then he shakes his box saying "colaboracion colaboracion". The response was that we don't pay now, we'll see later. The path is really simple, to the driveway we went through the mountain and have missed all the stunts, we arrive at the last directly. Then return it was decided to leave following the River, indeed there are passages of climbing and be careful. But the stunts are sublime! We follow the water course. We come across a guy who made his walk, and return signed and indicated our check-out time, we don't colaboracion because even when we found plastic bottles on the way, and behind "the Pebble pee" at the edge of the last waterfall : a small pile of waste, clearly hidden la. So no I'm not colaboracion if you are not able to clean up your site to 100%! For the guide: If you fear, Vertigo, you want to not bother to find the way, you're with children or have you want to make you screw over 250 pesos: take a guide. However if you are rather resourceful, you make the hikes and have already made of climbing, it would be too stupid to pay and follow someone all day for a feasible ride by itself even! There are 2 "dangerous" passages but nothing exceptional either more! Good luck and be careful!

  • We left without a guide for this hike of 4 h round trip area. Sporty enough. A place preserved, quiet and offers an exceptional flora and fauna. We have joined the taxi departure and returned on foot to the village of cafayate through beautiful bodegas.

  • Very good! Did the first day with a guide, Fernando, who claimed $40 x waterfall (worth it, because the road gets very hard and the Guide gives you lot of security). We were the second day without a guide, to stroll and explore more tranqui, and although we could not reach past waterfalls, the landscape and the views are spectacular, we did down along the river and at the end we were going up. Bring water, something to eat and everything to protect themselves from the Sun. Also the mesh to not stay with the desire for a dip! Perlite: find lodging with terrace family... Cabin in the middle of the hill with the best view. Safety pin!
