Retiro, Buenos Aires
(1/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Take a pleasant walk through Retiro, a neighborhood filled with both cultural attractions and architectural landmarks. As the location of a large bus terminal, the area remains one of the city's major points of entry, and its abundance of monumental plazas and buildings--from the old, Baroque-influenced structures, right through to modern homes and hotels--make it a nice place to explore on foot. Enjoy a bite to eat at one of many restaurants, or head to a bar for a night out. Retiro is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Buenos Aires Edition.

  • It is a large neighborhood with many things to see and appreciate. From Plaza San Martín. COS Majestic buildings like the Palacio San Marin (current Ministry of Foreign Affairs) of an imposing neo-classical French with large windows, gates, ornamental seems more place from Paris to Buenos Aires. The Peace Palace, less spectacular but of great beauty, and the smallest of all but typically French is the Museum of weapons. Getting away a little there only 10´, take Avenida Alvear to Paris and the large manciones estransportarse many of them wealthy farmers of the last century who lived with the opulence of European Princes. Around the plaza Carlos Pellegrini, the Embassy of France, the Jockey Club and the Consulate of Brazil, are more examples of that times of Argentina gold. Siguierndo by the Avenue to the North, the Apostolic Nunciature, the palacio Duhau (Museum of Arts and photography) and the Palace of the Ministry of culture are some of the examples worthy of visit. Finally and almost at the end of the Avenue the Alvear Palace Hotel, which can visit your confectionery and Gallery, never ceases to amaze for its grandeur and luxury. termimnamos travel coming to France Plaza, which is worthy of comment.

  • Nice neighborhood that borders the Centre and Recoleta. Home to many embassies, including the brazilian. The Plaza General San Martin is very nice, as well as the region called Recova, situated underneath the Overpass 9 de Julio with several restaurants and bars. Recommend a walk through the region.
