Retiro, Buenos Aires

1.0
#18 of 23 in Neighborhoods in Buenos Aires
Take a pleasant walk through Retiro, a neighborhood filled with both cultural attractions and architectural landmarks. As the location of a large bus terminal, the area remains one of the city's major points of entry, and its abundance of monumental plazas and buildings--from the old, Baroque-influenced structures, right through to modern homes and hotels--make it a nice place to explore on foot. Enjoy a bite to eat at one of many restaurants, or head to a bar for a night out. Retiro is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Buenos Aires Edition.

In this area we find a neuralgic point of connectivity for local, long distance and international buses as well as trains and subway. It is interesting to know the English Tower and clock that accompanies the neighborhood. Here the vertigo of the city reflects without a doubt. I do not recommend the hours peak and on the other hand to take safety precautions.

Walking on foot by BA is a great idea. Part of our journey was to meet this sector, place that houses two large stations trains, hotels, trade, a clock tower, and was a sector where rich host settled to escape from the Center, hence its name.

One of the most dull, dirty and dangerous of buenos aires. A lot of people with nothing to do wandering on the streets, begging and lots of child following you asking for everything. DANGEROUS

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
