Plaza Italia, Buenos Aires

#243 of 896 in Things to do in Buenos Aires
A small urban park draws visitors to Plaza Italia, featuring a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who fought in Europe and South America during the 19th century and earned the nickname the "Hero of the Two Worlds." At one corner of the park, you'll see a column brought from the Roman Forum--at more than 2,000 years old, it is one of the most significant monuments in the capital. Centre of Palermo are an insight into life in Buenos Aires. Many small shops, book-flea market small Fastfootrestaurants. Something for everyone. There's free WiFi at McDonalds.

It is a point of reference for metro station or subway, also for transfers to other public transport such as buses.

Plaza Italy is an important communications hub in Buenos Aires. The plaza is surrounded at all times per cent of collective and taxis as well as people that is located at bus stops or subway access. There's nothing interesting, except the Garibaldi monument in its Center. To only visit if you are in that area.

Plaza Italia itself is small, but there's a lot to do around. Love the botanical garden.

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
