  • This beautiful, green, careful and busy square is avenues Pueyrredon, of the liberator, Alvear, Quintana and the Junín Street, just in front of the Recoleta cemetery, the Church del Pilar-delimited and surrounded by dozens of gourmet places. Its name pays homage to Torcuato of Alvear, the first mayor that had the city of Buenos Aires. In fact a statue of this important personality stands in this square. It people it known as Plaza France, when actually it Plaza France is is just in front is, of other by the Avenue Pueyrredon. The confusion of names emerges to root that the artisan fair of the 1960s that was originally in the square of France and was then moved to Plaza Intendente Alvear. The people continued calling the artisan fair "France Plaza Feria" even though I was not more in the plaza, and finally began to confuse the names of the fair with square. This craft fair which runs weekends, was originally composed exclusively by craftsmen working materials such as: silver, bronze, copper, ceramic, leather, etc. Later added you another series of stalls selling handicrafts, but if of clothing such as dresses, pareos, scarves, belts, ornaments, etc. Very nice!

  • Many times confused with square France, this is located just opposite, crossing the Avenue of Pueyrredón. The wooded and landscaped area are very nice for walking. On one side is the monument the Mayor Torcuato de Alvear, the first of the Federal Capital and which gives its name to the square. Ideal for couples.
