Plaza Francia, Buenos Aires

In the hip Recoleta neighborhood, and at the end of Avenue Quintana, sits Plaza Francia, home to a long-standing artisan craft market. The market overtakes the landscaped park every weekend, while during the week locals use the park for leisure. Come to admire the views all around the square, watch various casual games and sports taking place, and see the notable church. If you’re here on a market day, take advantage of this shopping opportunity; you'll find items like pendants, leather goods, knitted wool products, and pins, all created with the particular artist’s personal flair. Plaza Francia is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Buenos Aires Edition.

This, like many other square in Buenos Aires, is very well cared for. In the Centre, there is a monument in honour of France, very beautiful. In addition, the National Museum of fine arts is at the side of the square, completing a beautiful view of the city. How is close to the Recoleta cemetery, you can make a good show of a shift, meet the graveyard, then walk around the Plaza and visit the Museum.

At the edge of the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood and manicured slips her green hill and trim Al Libertador Avenue. It is at Plaza Francia. During the week, especially on sunny days, the lawns full of couples/families "ש"שותים (tomando el sol). In other words, "tachrdanim". Who doesn't like the scratching of the grass can sit on an excellent cappuccino at La biela (see a separate recommendation) and watch the passers-by. But on Saturday and Sunday the trails surrounding the Hill becomes the fair feria. For me, it is the largest arts fair and diversity among weekend fairs in Buenos Aires. It has some interesting hand jobs and uniqueness, metal, leather and various types of knitting and weaving. You can also find native instruments and surprising (bamboo saxophone already met), rocks and minerals, and especially a lot of jewelry. The fair is a little touristy, but it is recommended (preferably) to negotiate the price. And total prices. Have fun at the fair. Don't miss all the more charming Recoleta neighborhood has to offer (see a separate recommendation "Recoleta").

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
