Palermo, Buenos Aires

4.6
#4 of 287 in Shopping in Argentina
It may not be the geographical center of the city, but the vibrant neighborhood of Palermo serves as the social hub of Buenos Aires. The district, one of the largest by area in the city, thrives with cafes, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, making it the ideal spot to meet friends for a night out on the town. It's worth a visit by day, too--the neighborhood houses the extensive Bosques de Palermo, a huge public park containing Buenos Aires' zoo and botanical gardens, as well as the city's rose and Japanese gardens. Rich with diversity, the neighborhood ranges from upscale on its northeastern side to alternative in the southwest. • Without doubt the best place to stay in BA, for those who want to escape from turistão place. Easy access to all places and the neighborhood itself is super nice, where you can walk the streets full of bars, shops and happy hour

  • Very nice neighborhood but lately there are many robberies in the area, the police station 31 seems to be only of embellishment.

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
