Museo Del Bicentenario, Buenos Aires

4.4
Immerse yourself in a blend of historical and modern architecture at Museo Del Bicentenario, built around the arches and foundations of Buenos Aires' former customs house. The underground museum takes you on a visual and auditory journey through Argentina's history, from independence to the present day. Although most of the museum's displays are only in Spanish, many of the video exhibits transcend the language barrier. Descend into the basement to discover the museum's highlight, an immersive mural painted by David Alfaro Siquieros. • Very nice museum showcasing the history of the presidential palace, as well as personal artefacts and possessions from previous presidents. Relatively new, the museum has a nice design, mixing the old historic architecture with new one. Unfortunately everything is in Spanish, making it difficult for the international visitor to fully experience the historical descriptions. Nice overall, it's free and worth a visit if you around.
  • Nice place. Intersting movies of the history of Argentina. Only in spanish with spanish subtitles.
  • Interesting and free. Good possibility to spend an hour learning about the history of the casa rosada
  • A great and free museum that gives a good overview of the complex political turmoil in Argentins over the last 150 years since independance.
  • This is a very interesting museum of the history of Argentina's presidents.

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
