Mafalda Statue, Buenos Aires

(4.2/5 based on 2,800+ reviews on the web)
At first glance, you might not think there's much history behind Mafalda Statue, a model of an Argentinian cartoon character sitting on a park bench. However, the six-year-old girl--whose newspaper comic enjoyed massive popularity in Argentina between 1964 and 1973--represents the struggles of the country's middle class, explored through the eyes of a child. Her character, although troublesome in many ways, cared deeply about social issues, and wanted to make the world a better place. Today, you can take your picture with the charming statue, though you might have to wait more than half an hour in line. With our custom trip planner, Buenos Aires attractions like Mafalda Statue can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Gem within the neighborhood of San Telmo. I highly recommend it. Unfortunately it is careless, but retains the essence. Go does not impact you. In fact, if you saw it "in passing" not you give him deserved attention. But knowing what means Mafalda for Argentines, you should not let take you a picture and look at it. It is worth the penalty, above all, a good excuse to walk along San Telmo.

  • The statue is just a doll sitting on a bench in the middle of a busy street. If you are not aware you pass even unnoticed. There is no marking concerning the history of the character in place, or why this placed there or anything else. There's a long line to take pictures that does not yield anything much different

  • Don't waste your time going to this place, not the photo. It's a corner in a super simple with no attractive, or shop with good souvenirs of Mafalda.

  • Nothing special here... Some restaurants with decent cheap food and nice outside sitting
  • Quick picture opportunity, great evening shots if you can find it when others are not around - which is rare.
  • Un homenaje a los personajes de quino. No son del todo parecidos a los personajes de la tira cómica.
  • only a bench with some mafalda's characters and not so good shopping options nearby.
  • Nice models of classic Mafalda characters. Allows people to sit down and take a picture with them. You do have to wait your turn since there is usually a line for a picture.
