Buenos Aires Latin American Art Museum (MALBA), Buenos Aires

4.5
#1 of 468 in Museums in Argentina
Admire a small but well-curated collection of modern art at Buenos Aires Latin American Art Museum (MALBA). The museum's collection contains paintings, sculptures, and more; highlights include works by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Fernando Botero, Emilio Pettoruti, and many other important Latin American artists. The museum also contains space for temporary displays, while its cultural center hosts constantly updated exhibits and events on art, film, and music. Be sure to admire the angular architecture of the museum itself: the design was chosen through an open competition, with three young Argentine architects taking the first prize. • I loved the exhibited works of art Mexican, from the famous Frida and Diego Rivera, like the of many of his contemporary countrymen. The rest of the exhibits mmmmm... very normal I think. Oh, and had a few activities rare students who passed to be a bit annoying on the visit. I would more control that part.

  • A space of art whose knowledge is essential. The building structure is of itself a work of art. The itinerant exhibitions allow us to enjoy the same works of art that are set out in other capitals of the world. a not to be missed!

  • Interesting. It is Latin American art. You should see it. You can go in groups from downtown...

  • Went to visit it during "La Noche de los Museos", it's really interesting and the works of art are beautifully exposed. When I went it was really crowded and the line was absurd, but on a regular day it must be really great. I took the time to visit it that night since all the museums are free, and the MALBA is the most expensive one in the city.
  • Appreciated that admission was 1/2 price if you showed a teacher ID. One floor was Latin American artwork, and it was well presented by theme. The other floor oddly had an US photographer who was not Latina. Again, it was visually presented very well, but was a disappointment for us, as we'd come to see Latin American artists. I wish that they had a place to get refreshments that was not so fancy.
  • It was very nice to visit such an attractive place. visiting those artworks made me feel so special.
  • Awesome place! Great art! Very centric!
  • Frida Kahlo y Diego Rivera a full!

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
