I may park - Avda Alem and Calle Cordoba is one of green spaces and recreation more important city, located on the shores of the river Naposta. The main entrance is called Portal of the Park at the intersection of the Av. Alem and Córdoba. In 1906 a group of residents tried to make a neighborhood in this area of 60 hectares with houses in the style of the Alpine Central Europe, which have been traced the streets and avenues, has been leveled to the ground, trees were planted and the artificial lake was built. But the houses were never made. The municipality then transformed it into a park and from 1910 was called Parque de Mayo in commemoration of the centenary of the may revolution. There is a track of health aerobics equipment, tennis soccer, rugby and basketball, amphitheatre, BMX, bike paths, playgrounds and artificial lake you can rent paddleboats for a walk. There are restaurants type "carts" a monument to the founders and Cnel Ramón Bernabé Estomba, founder of the city whose figure is 11 meters high. The pedestal is made of granite that was imported from Hamburg (Germany) and is located on a circular platform. At the base there are four bas-reliefs representing harvesters, the Rodeo, the conquest of the desert and the first farmers and dockers at the top. The auction of the monument is an architectural complex whose statues cast in bronze are five figures that symbolize the union of the precursors, the gaucho, settlers who are planting the first tree, and the soldier: A woman carries a flag and symbolically represents the national protection and the national coat of arms. There are also other monuments as monument to General José of San Martín, to Gral. Miguel Martín de Güemes, to Gral. Justo José de Urquiza and Romulus and Remus that was donated by the Italian community in 1928 on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the city. There is also a monument donated by the Lebanese community in the city.

The Park was created in 1906. It was originally called Municipal Park. It was built by private initiative. The accesses are very picturesque. It has many facilities, especially sports, although it also has an amphitheater, health track, other BMX, bike paths, playgrounds and an important artificial lake which can be enjoyed on boat rides. It may park extends to the edge of the Arroyo Naposta, at the point known as Bañado de Giménez. It is full of curved lines and winding and possesses a striking wooded landscape and a widespread tree planting. It has a European air. Monuments: to Colonel Ramón Bernabé Estomba: founder of the city. Made by the sculptor César Sforza, of granite of exceptional quality from Germany. It has four bas-reliefs. On the upper part, cast in bronze, stands the main sculptural group. Five figures, allegories of the union of the precursors, the gaucho, settlers, soldier and a woman, symbol of national protection, with a flag ("El Rodeo", "The dockers", "The conquest of the desert" and "Life jacket"). The founders: located on the street for access to the Park. Dating back to 1931. Syrian Lebanese: a unique pilar-reloj gift of that community. San Martin: first monument that was Bahia Blanca! Foundation plate: The origin of a name: in 1910 the then Municipal Park was baptized with its current name in homage to the centennial of the may revolution. Roman column and its mythical Wolf: work dating from 1978, year of the year of the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary founding of Bahía Blanca). Gift of the Italian community. Just José de Urquiza: he had his bust. It was stolen. And now a new one located at the intersection of Urquiza Avenida and calle Cordoba. There are also donated sculpture groups (known as sculptural group of Lola Mora), National University of the South in the Alem Avenue. Beautiful! To spend a long time in the shade of its trees. Excellent opportunities for photography lovers!
