  • A beautiful view of the city and a Museum organized and very well maintained. The Daisy Ximenes Guide gave us a full class in the history of Angola. Not to be missed!

  • The fort of San Miguel overlooks the Bay of Luanda and offers beautiful views of the city and the Bay. It is both a testament to the Portuguese colonial past, and an exhibition of arms relating to the war of independence and the civil war. Do not miss the beautiful tiles in the central barracks. Go early in the morning or late afternoon as the Sun in the middle of the day (think about taking water). Coffee awaits you at the foot of the fortress, no supply inside.

  • Nice place to visit with a huge collection of historical facts, documents and archeological materials. Great location and views from the top of the fort. A must visit historical place in Luanda for tourists. This place reminds the rule of colonialists.
  • São Miguel fort was built in 1576 by Paulo Dias de Novais. It became the administrative center of the colony in 1627 and was a major outlet for slave traffic to Brazil. The fort was for many years a self-contained town protected by thick walls encrusted with cannons. Inside the fort, elaborate ceramic tiles tell the story of Angola from early years, and in the courtyard are large, imposing statues of Portugal's first king, the first European to reach Angola, Diogo Cão, renowned explorer Vasco da Gama and other notables. Until 1975, the fortress served as the headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief of the Portuguese Armed Forces in Angola. Today, it holds the Museum of the Armed Forces. Between 1938 and 1958 it held the Museu de Angola, until it was moved and renamed Museu Nacional de História Natural de Angola.
  • Great views of Luanda. Interesting history to explore. However, all information is Portuguese.
  • Amazing view over Luanda. Too bad it closes early.
  • Army Museum. Historic place. Nice view of the Bay. Used also for entertainment events.
