  • Although it is very close to the main road, it was all a dare visit this shrine the afternoon we did, in which was falling a tremendous snowfall, as you can see in the photo. The views from the sanctuary must be very beautiful, although we could not appreciate them. The environment is full of peace and quiet. It is a sanctuary designed in 1976 by the Spanish Ricardo Bofill, about the ancient Romanesque Sanctuary which burned nearly almost entirely in 1972, including the Romanesque sculpture of the Virgin - that there is a copy -

  • We went to El Tarter ski and I discovered, via TripAdvisor, the sanctuary of Meritxell - which corresponds to the Marian route together with the shrines of del Pilar, Torreciudad, Montserrat and Lourdes, just 8 kilometres away, was coming to Canillo. We were going to go by bus, but from where left us the bus to the shrine will be about 3 kms in "up"... Has an architecture modern designed by an architect-Bonfill-of Barcelona. It is "cool" and very cute... for Catholics, not only has an architectural design to enjoy it is a place that inspires great peace. Our Sra of Meritxell is the patron saint of the Principality of Andorra. Now in winter it is open until 7: 00 pm and there is only mass on Saturday at 18. You can buy there mariano passport where there same sealed the visit. Worth a go, it is simple, fresh, modern... and very cute...
