Known for its mix of Byzantine and Moorish architectural styles, Ketchaoua Mosque remains one of the most recognizable sites in the city, as well as a powerful religious spot. Enter along the wide set of stairs, and inside find an interior covered with detailed carvings and inscriptions, marble columns and arcades. • Beautiful restoration of this mosque emblematic of the lower casbah of Algiers. The place is not yet open to the public because it is waiting for inauguration by local authorities and the Turkish authorities, who supported the restoration of this building that was at turns mosque and Cathedral and then again after mosque independence.

  • We did a walk instead of the martyr, it was found that this place is marked by the Palisades to the work and we s is approached the Ketchaoua mosque there was what it is closed for renovation. The outside in summer restore, the external l stones the façade are very well polished almost new... Sandstone tuff... like at the origin! The minarets with a few colored arabesque... The external seal remained in line with the original, inside we had the opportunity to go to see! The next time we'll see the inside!

  • Very good and old mosque. Under renovation by Turkish government.
  • Very beautiful mosque which is still under renovation but still gives a beautiful example of old traditional architecture like casbah
  • The oldest mosque in Algiers, an iconic place of the Casbah of Alger
  • Could be one of the highlights of Algiers but it is still under renovation. However even from outside you can get an idea of the beauty of this Mosque.
  • Excellent mosque 😎
