  • About the beauty and grandeur of the Cathedral will not write a lot about it here. And here are some of the curious facts of its history will tell. Pope, Austrian Emperor Franz-Josef and even the Turkish Sultan invested their part in financing the construction of the Cathedral. During the reign of the Albanian "cultural revolution", when "no God", there was a sports and Assembly Hall. And just because there were a variety of socio-political and cultural-political activities, building of the Cathedral was spared from destruction. In 1947, in this Cathedral was discovered a cache of weapons. There is no smoke without fire, but the priests have pleaded not guilty. As a result, the Church was closed and only in 1990 year (almost 45 years!) it reopened. In his temple decoration looks simple. But there is zest, if you know his story. In the niches of the Church, on the left of the entrance wall are pictures of famous Albanian artist brush Kol Idromeno. They are especially popular with visitors. Religious paintings, but are a clear shade anti-Communist orientation and with relevant titles (translated from Albanian-random: "immortality religion", "big", "defamation of religion for the motherland", "religion is drowning in the blood of Smoot"). On one of the paintings depicts and himself a former Albanian leader. Be sure to take a look inside the temple and the Holy poklonâs′, look carefully! Photograph of the Cathedral allowed.
