Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
Admire a range of bird species at Shkodra Lake, the largest lake in the Balkan peninsula that rests on the border between Albania and Montenegro. A couple of islands in the lake are still home to castles and an old prison. Despite these sites, what draws most visitors is the densely populated bird reserve, featuring some of the last native European pelicans. The birds nest along the lake shores, attracted by the large number of fish in the water, including carp and eel. You can charter a fishing boat yourself or sample some of the fish flavors at a restaurant along the lake's banks. Some of these eateries have terraces that jut out over the water. To enjoy the surroundings, consider a ride in one of the small boats banked on the Albanian side, available for group rentals. These often have covers that shield you from the sun. Our Shkoder trip generator makes visiting Shkodra Lake and other Shkoder attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
