Rozafa Castle, Shkoder

#1 of 16 in Things to do in Shkoder
Take in the stuff of legends and exceptional views of one of the country's oldest towns at Rozafa Castle. According to an old Serbian ballad, "The Building of Skadar," the three Serbian brothers who were building the castle couldn't get the walls to stand. A man passing by told them they could make the walls stand if one of the brother's wives were sacrificed. Fiction or not, the walls still stand today. Climb around what's left of them for views of the ancient town, along with the Drin and Bojana Rivers. The remote area around the attraction has limited facilities, so come prepared. • Every self-respecting medieval castle or family estate has its legends and legends recounting the host cities of the castle in the distant past. In another case with fortresses. Constructed for protection from the enemies stronghold, few can boast of fantastic stories or legends. And here is the Rozafa fortress, proudly towering over the river Jetty near the Albanian town of Shkoder 2 400 years, already has its own sad story. As the legend goes, built this fortress of three brothers. But nothing they did everything they were erected for the day, collapsed in the morning. Zakruchinilis brothers. And then walked past the old man. Asking about the cause of their sadness, he gave them advice. But before that took with architects promise to keep quiet at home about what they say. And it is clear that Council was dreadful: brothers should be immured alive in a wall the first girl who comes to him the next day, the two brothers did not keep the oath and warned their wives, so that they do not come to the construction site. And here is the younger brother of the word kept. And when the next day, his wife had brought lunch masters, the hammer fell out of his hands. Two older brothers did not keep the oath and warned their wives, so that they do not come to the construction site. And here is the younger brother of the word kept. And when the next day, his wife had brought lunch masters, the hammer fell out of his hands. Upon learning of her plight, a fiery girl agreed to this sacrifice, only asked not to zamurovyvali her right eye, right arm, right foot and right breast. So the brothers and made ... The walls of the fortress no longer hit, taking the victim, and the brothers managed to erect a fortress. And to descendants have not forgotten those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the construction of the fortress — they called a stronghold named girls ... That's just the stones around the walls and to this day are wet and MOSS-like milk continues to trickle, drops down on the walls of the ancient fortress.

  • Beautiful views of all Shkodor, entry costs 200 Leu P.p.. But, very steep climb, the effort will be rewarded. From the fortress remains much, unfortunately entry must be paid for the inspection of the figure of Rozfana again.

  • We were there my partner and I, and it really is in shambles. The best that has are the vistas.200 leks per person, to remove a good panoramic and hang out. Detail key, take shorebirds, not flip-flops road is bad.
