Ruin Tourist Spot Must See
Wander the ruins of ancient significance at Apollonia Archaeological Park. Founded first by the Taulanti Albanians, and then by the Greek colonists in 588 BCE, the city was founded again in the 18th century. International teams continue to excavate antiquities from the attraction's grounds, including a large collection of Roman statuary. Emperor Augustus himself studied in the ancient city. In fact, the town thrived under Roman rule and Cicero mentioned it as a great city in his writings. After its devastation by an earthquake, the city is making a comeback as a major tourist attraction. A Byzantine monastery with a rustic interior is also on site, and you are welcome to tour the inside. Purchase tickets at the museum, which serves as your introduction to the site's history. There is a lot of ground to cover, so wear comfortable shoes. There are facilities inside the museum.     Interesting archaeological site. And one of the old oiu in Albania. You can have picnics because in a large park. I recommend it to anyone to visit

    A lot of fun to visit and take pictures. More to see than you'd think at first. A little tricky to get to. Easy to walk around although it is on top of a small hill. Extremely enjoyable.

    One impressive reconstructed building facade. Otherwise, not much to see at the site. The museum has a few nice pieces of statuary. Given the long, windy road out to Apollonia, the cost/benefit ratio is a little too high.
