  • Must visit! Certainly there is the Ethnographic Museum next door that is stronger, but the visit is not guided and even less in french. Very nice house in her juice... The bamboo chair came from France. Cocorico!

  • Visited Casa Skenduli accompanied by the landlord, whose family has lived in this residence for nine generations. Mr Skenduli speaks several languages, including Italian, Greek and French, but I definitely have some problems with English. The tour starts from the ground floor, where you can see the spacious rooms used for refrigeration of food, cooking, with the interesting collection system and stormwater drains, and place of hospitality for guests on horseback. Upstairs in addition to bedrooms, in Ottoman style, the various sitting rooms for guests, of which in particular one of very high value very well preserved. In the House there are numerous chimneys, testifying to the welfare of the family during the construction of the House. A very interesting visit, with a special guide very helpful in telling the story of his home and his family.

  • Very precious piece off architecture and very nice guide ( the owner). Best place to visit in city.
  • Beautiful old house of 1700 century. Perfect conservation in all parts. Realy reccomand form the guide who illustrate the history and tradition house life.
  • Must visit, when in Gjirokaster. Luckily we were guided trough the house by charming lady, whose family owns the house. She explained us all the details about the house structure and life inside. We were in Zekate House as well, and I have to say that the houses differ, it is really interesting to visit both and compare.
  • The best preseved characteristic house in Gjirokastra.
  • I recommend to visit! Unique old house from lost times of Gjirokastër..

Where to stay in Gjirokaster

As a World Heritage Site, Gjirokaster attracts a fair number of tourists. However, there are a limited number of hotels, and even fewer hostels. The town is divided into two sections: the atmospheric old town is up on a hill, and the newer part is down below in the valley. Most of the historical attractions lie in the old town; staying here puts you within easy reach and saves you a daily walk or taxi ride up and down the hill.
