Quorter Of Gorica, Berat

3.9
#4 of 9 in Things to do in Berat
Landmark Tourist Spot
Rising up from the banks of the Osum River, Quorter Of Gorica begs to be explored on foot. The ancient quarter is a small grouping of old homes and buildings on the side of hill. They are notable for their half-whitewashed stone walls and many windows facing the river. Two churches in the area are worth exploring, but they must be unlocked, so if you don't find the keeper at the first church you visit, move on to the next, where he is most likely unlocking the door for other guests. Cross the Gorice Bridge to reach the area. Near the bridge you'll find restaurants with inexpensive traditional food served in generous portions. A steep hike uphill leads you to the fortress near the top of the hill overlooking this section of town. There is a fee to enter the fortress. • Gorica district South of the Osam river flowing through the streets of the historic centres of Berat. It was hard to climb the slope of stone-paved road in a suitcase had stayed in the area of Gorica. Look from Gorica, a traditional building of the Osam River picture to the sight. Especially at night was beautiful. By the way it was dark at night.

  • The District of Gorica is just as beautiful as the "real" city of 1000 Windows Mangalem - and we have confused for the first time both districts upon our arrival with the AUO :), until we had gives an overview. A walk worthwhile. There are picturesque alleys and you have a fantastic view on the Castle Hill and Mangalem.

  • Both of Gorica and Mangalam district took a walk. Gorica district not to open from 16:00 in your lunch break after trying to visit the Gorica district of St. Thomas Church, about ten minutes walking around, went back to the Church. In the Church, one elderly man started to guide us. Guide to church and Gorica district takes about 20 minutes for the men demanded one 200 Lek, total 400 Lek, so paid. Town is very nice, but hard to walk in white I'm pitching. Walking is recommended running shoes.

Where to stay in Berat

Berat doesn’t experience a large number of tourists, as reflected in the limited accommodation choices. Still, you can find inexpensive hostels and higher-end hotels in decent locations. The town’s main attraction is the well-preserved Ottoman center, and no matter where you stay, you won’t be a far walk. Be prepared to conquer some hills, though: Berat's hub lies in the valley between two steep hills, where most of the accommodations are.
