  • Include collected objects, documents, costumes and all that belongs to the folk culture of the region of Berat and southern Albania. The Museum was established in a characteristic House located in an authentic medieval district with shops selling handicrafts and suvenire. In the ground floor of the House exposes the tools and objects used for the olive harvest and processing of oil. On the first floor there is a room with typical farmer, another city-style, the kitchen, the files, whereas in open environments exposes other original items. In Albania there are many homes like this, but this is the most attention I've seen.

  • In the heart of the historic centre of Berat an old house perfectly kept houses the local ethnographic museum. On the first floor you can visit a small reconstruction of local crafts and see the traditional dresses, occasion is that of everyday life. On the top floor, with a beautiful terrace, the rooms of the House and the explanation of the uses and customs local mode dedicated to hospitality and daily life. Nice and well cared for garden and atrium of the inner court. Free lockers are available to store bags and backpacks & guides written in several languages.

  • - A must-visit museum giving you an authentic insight into the Albanian culture. - I strongly suggest you take one of the tour guides (should be very cheap, around 5-10€ or less). Looking at rooms and clothes on your own and not knowing the meaning of it, is a waste of time. - Easily accessible and entrance is only 1.5€ - Good place to take some nice photos for your social media accounts
  • Very simple museum with some exhibit of traditional clothing and tools in the ground floor, the second floor is a well preserved traditional Albanian house. Very cozy living areas, sunny kitchen, bedrooms furnished in traditional style for all visitors to experience. No photography allowed inside. The outside garden is beautiful with terraces of flowers and fruit trees. Entrance was 200 leke. Cash only. Free toilets on site. No Wi-Fi.
  • Great museum, a lot of Albanian history in it.
  • Great museum. Check it out. Not to big. Not to small. A lot of interesting history.
  • This provides very lucid impressions of the historical life. Very well preserved items and good explantions in various languages. Very kind people, too!

Where to stay in Berat

Berat doesn’t experience a large number of tourists, as reflected in the limited accommodation choices. Still, you can find inexpensive hostels and higher-end hotels in decent locations. The town’s main attraction is the well-preserved Ottoman center, and no matter where you stay, you won’t be a far walk. Be prepared to conquer some hills, though: Berat's hub lies in the valley between two steep hills, where most of the accommodations are.
